Canal Side Garden

Canal Side Garden

The plan for this garden was to create a bank at the very end and to have a big lawn that would be ideal for the children as they are fond of playing football. With different areas in need of access, pathways would be added that would also help screen off the canal footpath at the rear of the property.

Planting

The client’s requested vibrant plants for the garden. Silver plants were used as a way to connect the garden together, creating a consistent theme throughout. A wide, rectangular lawn was added with a wildflower meadow near the rear bank. A hawthorn hedge was planted on the boundary, keeping an overall country setting.

Design

The garden is wide but shallow and has a path making its way around the lawn. Each side of the path is bordered and is met with a stone terrace in front of the house. The bordered plants are designed to soften the hard landscape. The hawthorn hedge at the boundary not only complements the style of the garden but creates privacy while still keeping passing canal boats in view.

See what some of our clients have to say about us!

Having decided to create a special look to a farm courtyard I employed the services of Taylor Barnes. From the beginning the venture was exciting, and they were enthusiastic and creative. The design drawn was amazing and when it came to fruition I was more than pleased, it was every bit perfect.
I had engaged Taylor Barnes to design and build our garden at home in the UK. They took our brief, but rather than slavishly follow it, they emboldened and embellished it with their own ideas which complemented our initial thoughts. The result has been a fantastic garden that has given us 8 years of pleasure.
After meeting with several garden designers we decided to choose Taylor Barnes because of their combination of design and building skills. Paul and his team were very pleasant to have around the house and were able to include last minute changes as the new garden evolved. We were so pleased with the outcome that we asked them to landscape our front garden last year as well.
From our very first contact to the moment our garden was finished we have been delighted with the work. We felt that they really wanted us to enjoy our garden and were excited by the project which gave us great confidence and belief. Our garden is now an extension of our living room and looks so much better than we could have ever anticipated.

Contemporary Gravel Garden

This client sought a contemporary gravel garden that would stand out from the rest. However, despite wanting to create such a visually stunning space, the garden must be designed in a way that would be easy to maintain. This would mean limiting the number of plants and focusing more on contemporary pieces such as a

Country Garden

Our client was looking to create a country-style garden that would compliment the pre-existing cottage. Behind the cottage lies two acres of land that would need to be developed to bring the home and garden together. This entire look would be achieved by bringing in a variety of natural materials, creating a homely, welcoming country-style

Front Drive and Garden

For this project, we were working with a large family that owned multiple cars. As a result, the client approached us with the intention of building a drive in front of the house that would provide a parking space for each car. However, the client still wanted the drive to resemble a garden. It should
