Front Drive and Garden

Front Drive and Garden

For this project, we were working with a large family that owned multiple cars. As a result, the client approached us with the intention of building a drive in front of the house that would provide a parking space for each car. However, the client still wanted the drive to resemble a garden. It should be visually appealing and inviting, all while still serving a practical purpose. To achieve this, we used a range of interesting planting that would be strategically placed around the drive.

Planting

The front of this property is blessed to be in an extremely sunny position. Due to this benefit, we could work with bright hot colours for the planting. With a range of hot reds, vibrant yellows and firey oranges, we placed these colours between deep greenery and shrubs. We then shaped the planting with sweeping box hedge borders and 6 standard bay trees on either side of the curb and drive.

Design

The original curving staircase was unfortunately crumbling and was in serious need of restoration. To rebuild this, we used Cheshire brick, while implementing a curving wall and sandstone steps. The drive then flowed from the staircase, following a semi-circular drive and made its way to the front of the house.

See what some of our clients have to say about us!

After meeting with several garden designers we decided to choose Taylor Barnes because of their combination of design and building skills. Paul and his team were very pleasant to have around the house and were able to include last minute changes as the new garden evolved. We were so pleased with the outcome that we asked them to landscape our front garden last year as well.
Having decided to create a special look to a farm courtyard I employed the services of Taylor Barnes. From the beginning the venture was exciting, and they were enthusiastic and creative. The design drawn was amazing and when it came to fruition I was more than pleased, it was every bit perfect.
I had engaged Taylor Barnes to design and build our garden at home in the UK. They took our brief, but rather than slavishly follow it, they emboldened and embellished it with their own ideas which complemented our initial thoughts. The result has been a fantastic garden that has given us 8 years of pleasure.
From our very first contact to the moment our garden was finished we have been delighted with the work. We felt that they really wanted us to enjoy our garden and were excited by the project which gave us great confidence and belief. Our garden is now an extension of our living room and looks so much better than we could have ever anticipated.

Contemporary Gravel Garden

This client sought a contemporary gravel garden that would stand out from the rest. However, despite wanting to create such a visually stunning space, the garden must be designed in a way that would be easy to maintain. This would mean limiting the number of plants and focusing more on contemporary pieces such as a

This garden project involved creating a space that would serve multiple purposes that benefit the family and the view behind the property.

Courtyard Garden

Our client sought a courtyard garden with strong influential elements of a Mediterranean outdoor setting. This would be complemented by a contemporary water feature that inhabits fish. This garden would provide the client with a stunning outdoor space that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Grade 2 Listed Building

This is a grade 2 listed property and building and large garden of some historical significance. The head of the arts and crafts movement designed and built this property in 1903. A large drive was requested, as well as a path to lead around the various garden areas, with an existing brick-built curving pergola and

Family Garden

Despite the desire for a new garden, the client wanted to design around their beloved apple tree. The design would link their existing garden to a recently acquired bottom area.

This client sought a lawn with beds and a path that led down the garden, towards a greenhouse and vegetable garden.

Formal White Garden

Who says your driveway has to look plain with concrete? Our client wanted a large sweeping drive that encompasses the double garage opposite the house.
